THE OCKLEY CUP

A class to be entered by a Group… family, friends, pub, club, school, etc; Any number of people in the group. See the show schedule for more information.

THE MARQUEE

Here the competitive classes take place and the entries are displayed. It really is fun and has a real community feel as you become part of this long-standing event. There are about 200 classes covering Vegetables, Fruit, Eggs, Baking, Preserves, Art & Craft, Photography, Floral Arrangements and a special section for Children, divided into specific age groups. If your exhibit does not turn out as expected, you can enter use as an entry for the Disaster Class. Entry into one of these classes gives you a chance to win one of (in most classes) a first, second or third monetary prize. If you enter a number of classes you could win one of the 34 trophies awarded annually. However, the real excitement is getting ready on the night before, and on Show morning, staging your exhibit and waiting eagerly to see what the judges thought of your entry.

Entry forms can be found in the Schedule and must be returned to the Show Secretary by Tuesday 9th August 2016. Entries must be brought to the marquee and staged between 8am & 10.30am on the morning of the Show.

Judging takes place while the marquee is closed from 10.30am till about 1pm; then we have to do lots of number crunching to see who has won the various trophies, plus some more for the Children’s Sports & the Road Race.

The marquee opens again about 1.30pm for entrants and supporters to see who has won!

OUR HELPERS

This fun event doesn’t happen by itself and is organised, over the preceding year, by a dedicated volunteer Committee, ably aided by volunteers (and a number of pressed men). However, we always need more helpers, especially on Show day.

If you could spare an hour (or two) of your time on Saturday 13th August to help with car parking, taking tickets at the gates, selling raffle tickets or helping with any one of a number of other tasks please contact us.
